Arch Street

New Haven, CT

A neighborhood beautification project for a disadvantaged neighborhood in New Haven. With Kent Bloomer’s Yale seminar, Siobhán collaborated on the design for a new gateway for this community garden. The process involved meeting with neighbors to establish design consensus on elements that would at once protect and beautify the conversion of an empty private lot into a community garden open to all.

One year after the fence construction, Siobhán was invited back to design an internal gathering space. With Julie Fisher, she developed a cluster of benches that was at once organic to reflect the nature of the “Elm City” and technically driven in its efficient use of steel ornamentation.
